Clark Deroo, Prominent in Redlands Citrus and Gop Politics, Dies at 81
REDLANDS - Clark DeRoo, a citrus grower and packinghouse manager with three generations of roots in Redlands, died of heart failure Wednesday, Oct. 4, at his home in Redlands. He was 81. In addition to his career in the citrus industry, DeRoo was active in community affairs and Republican politics and was once called "the most patient, persistent, productive Republican in our neck of the woods."

Pete, Irene Bachiu Celebrate 60th
Pete and Irene Bachiu of Redlands celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at Tennessee Gardens in Redlands. Hosting the dinner party were daughters Daney Bachiu of Redlands and Erin Beringson of Redlands.
Gallion, Nickell Will Wed in July
Dr. Ken and Darlene Gallion of Redlands announce the engagement of their daughter, Katy Gallion, to Robert Nickell, son of J.B. and Gwen Nickell of Lakewood. The couple met in Sacramento last November at the California Pharmacist Association conference, where Katy was the student representative of Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy.
REDLANDS - First Lutheran Church's annual Apple Butter Festival was held Saturday, Oct. 7, all day in the church parking lot. Vendors affiliated with the church and from around town brought products to sell and information to distribute for the event.
Robina Wayson, daughter of Donald and Margaret Wayson of Grand Prairie, Texas, became the bride of Matthew King, son of Rod and Phyllis King of Redlands, on June 10. A dinner reception for 110 guests was held at Sunset Gardens in Las Vegas.
Planners to Consider Medical Offices, Other Projects
REDLANDS - It has been feast or famine for the Planning Commission lately. The group is following up their last meeting, all four hours of it, with a Tuesday agenda listing no old business and just five items of new business. Two of those are expected to be continued to another date. The commission will consider a three-building medical office development proposed for 9 acres at the intersection of Alabama Street and Park Avenue. Christina Anna Mae Eustice, daughter of Doug and Sandra Eustice of Redlands, became the bride of Nathan Charles Smith, son of Walt and Barbara Smith of Redlands, on May 6. The Rev. Jon Connor officiated at the ceremony at Los Willows in Fallbrook. A dinner reception for 125 guests followed at Los Willows.
LOMA LINDA - For David Dunn, showing support for American soldiers serving in Iraq means remembering the families they have left behind. Dunn, the founder of Militarysupporthq, sends care packages to the soldiers and collects food, clothing and toys for their families.
