Loma Linda to Study Merging Fire Service with Redlands, Colton

LOMA LINDA - The city of Loma Linda will participate in a study that will explore combining the Loma Linda and Redlands fire departments. The Loma Linda City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously in favor of funding a study into consolidating the departments.

Supervisors Approve New Positions for Assessor's Office

When working with other government entities and handling the media, San Bernardino County's next assessor will get his wish to go pro. On Tuesday, Assessor-elect Bill Postmus joined three of his colleagues on the Board of Supervisors in approving five new appointed positions for his new office.

Campaign Brings Santa to Seniors

This season marks the third year of "Be a Santa to a Senior," a program sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care which provides gifts to needy seniors who otherwise might not receive anything this holiday season. The program began Nov. 20 and continues through Dec. 22.

Man Held On Suspicion of Giving Minors Alcohol

HIGHLAND - Investigators with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control's Target Responsibility for Alcohol Connected Emergencies have arrested a man suspected of giving a group of minors alcohol, which led to the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl. Joseph Eugene Foster, 52, of Highland can be seen on video surveillance interacting with a group of juveniles at a Palm Avenue liquor store, according to a news release from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

REDLANDS - Burglars kicked in doors and ransacked houses at several locations Tuesday. At a home on the 800 block of Ashley Way, a housekeeper heard a noise and then found the sliding glass door open, according to police spokesman Carl Baker.
