A Question with No Simple Answer
Q: Dear Professor Elder, Could you please explain to me about Jesus' "brothers" mentioned several times in the Bible? I have gotten very different answers to who these people were. Any thoughts?
Seminar to Explore Origin of the Bible
REDLANDS - Lee Martin McDonald, a renowned theologian and biblical scholar, will present a seminar on "Origin of the Bible: Are the Right Books Included" Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23 and 24, in Redlands. The First Baptist Church of Redlands will host the seminar.
Stemi Heart Attacks Serious, Bur Survival
In May, the Inland Empire Heart and Vascular Institute at St. Bernardine Medical Center officially became a STEMI center. This designation means that St. Bernardine is specially equipped and trained to diagnose and treat a ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) type of heart attack. Dr. Stephen Estes is director of non-invasive cardiology of the Inland Empire Heart and Vascular Institute at St. Bernardine. A Pair of Golden Anniversaries
In 1959, things were happening! Alaska and Hawaii were both admitted to the Union and, here in Redlands, both Plymouth Village and Town & Country African Violet Society were founded. Plymouth Village is now one of the premier retirement communities here in Redlands and Town & Country African Violet Society is still dedicated to furthering interest in and care of African violets in the Redlands and Inland Empire area.
Sandi Lord, an award-winning floral designer, will present a program on "Large and Small Floral Designs made Easier" for the Redlands Horticultural and Improvement Society's Floral Design Group. The meeting is 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, in the lower level of the lodge at Plymouth Village, 945 Salem Drive, Redlands. There is no charge and anyone interested in floral design is welcome to come and join in.

Jog-a-Thon Raises $10,000 for Moore
REDLANDS - Moore Middle School students participated in the school's second annual Jog-A-Thon fundraiser Friday, Oct. 2. In the event, sponsored by the PTSA, students ran laps to raise funds and purchase items for the school, such as new technology, curriculum aids and classroom supplies.
Tea Will Feature Themed Table Designs
REDLANDS - Tea tables in a variety of designs will soon be set for the Assistance League of Redlands' third annual tea party, "It's All About Tea." The event, a fundraiser for Assistance League philanthropies, is Saturday, Nov. 14, at Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 1551 Reservoir Road in Redlands.
Vintage Johnston Raises $10,000
REDLANDS - This year's Vintage Johnston wine dinner raised $10,000 for the University of Redlands Johnston Center for Integrative Studies. The Oct. 3 event featured world-renowned wines, a multi-course dinner and nearly 130 attendees, including Johnston seniors who shared their unique experiences as students with the guests.
Birth Announcement: Gabriel Lior Hyman
Jeffrey and Dana Masser Hyman of Corte Madera announce the birth of their son Gabriel Lior Hyman on Sept. 10 at Marin General Hospital. Gabriel weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and was 20 inches long. He joins big brother Ari Benjamin. Jeffrey Hyman, a graduate of Valley Preparatory School in Redlands and the Webb School, is founder and CEO of Cog1, a digital advertising company in San Francisco.
