REDLANDS - Clark DeRoo, a citrus grower and packinghouse manager with three generations of roots in Redlands, died of heart failure Wednesday, Oct. 4, at his home in Redlands. He was 81.

In addition to his career in the citrus industry, DeRoo was active in community affairs and Republican politics and was once called "the most patient, persistent, productive Republican in our neck of the woods."

Clark Deroo, Prominent in Redlands Citrus and Gop Politics, Dies at 81

David "Clark" DeRoo, born Feb. 18, 1925, in Redlands, was a third- generation Redlander, the son of David S. and Jeanette DeRoo. His grandfather Jacob DeRoo emigrated from the Netherlands in the late 1800s.

Clark DeRoo grew up in a house on Walnut Road, where the family citrus groves were, and attended Crafton Elementary School and the old Redlands Junior High before graduating from Redlands High School in 1942. He was on the swim team at RHS.
