REDLANDS - At first glance, Brookside Avenue between Grant Street and Center Street, with its pleasant oak-studded parkway, appears to be a graceful residential neighborhood. There are tasteful monument signs announcing dental offices, attorneys' offices, and insurance company offices.

Bill Solberg, a longtime Redlands resident and agent for State Farm Insurance, enjoys one of those recycled cottages with his office on 401 Brookside Ave. The small former home looks today from the street almost like it did when it was built in 1922.
