I think the average person who has had a long-term relationship with their bank or brokerage firm probably thinks they are the institution's best customer.
There also is a perception that the more money you have with a bank, the better customer you must be. Not always. A customer who does not pay off their credit card balance each month, incurs monthly account fees and pays unnecessary overdraft penalties is probably a far more profitable bank customer.
