REDLANDS - Seminal rapper Chuck D of Public Enemy spoke to a packed Orton Center at the University of Redlands last night as part of its Convocation Lecture Series. His talk touched on such hot topics as New Orleans, the jail system and the state of hip hop music.
Chuck Ds voice remained powerful and passionate throughout his over two- hour "vibe session," as he called it. He began by speaking about Black History Month, which he explained began in the 1920s as Negro History Week. He celebrates Black History Month for 100 days, from Martin Luther Kings birthday on.
