REDLANDS The $3.3 million deficit projected for 2006-07 was too much for Mayor Susan Peppler and Council member Pat Gilbreath, who on Tuesday voted against the 2005-06 General Fund budget, after the council handed out pieces of the pie for police support, roofing and other needs.

The $1.1 million in supplemental requests OK'd by the council during this year's budget process brings the $2.2 million projected ending balance for 2005-2006 to $1.6 million, with the addition of $467,000 from the sale of the state's anticipated reimbursement of vehicle license fees and other expenditure reductions.

With changes made by the council, the now $46.8 million in expenditures outweigh revenue by nearly $3.7 million an additional deficit of about $700,000 beyond the original proposed budget.
