SAN BERNARDINO - Van Khanh Nguyen of Redlands East Valley High School and Holly Flan of Yucaipa High School were among 1,923 Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) students honored recently at a recognition ceremony at the University of California, Riverisde.

The students represented 67 high schools from Riverside, Inyo, Mono and San Bernardino (RIMS) counties, and included 30 seniors receiving scholarships from UCR, California State University, San Bernardino, the RIMS AVID/Community Foundation Scholarship program, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation.
