The following is a glimpse into what has happened in Our Town over the past year. Happy 2007.

JANUARY

  • William T. Hardy and Martha Green were named Man and Woman of the Year at the Redlands Chamber of Commerce Installation Dinner. Redlands Police officer Rodney Walters was named Police Officer of the Year and Capt. Glenn Crum was named Firefighter of the Year. Former Redlands Daily Facts Publisher Fred Board accepted the president's gavel.
  • Christine Munoz replaced Marie Murphy as director of the Joslyn Senior Center.
  • Joey Whittemore was named chairman of the 2006 Redlands Festival Series.
  • The Contemporary Club celebrated 112 years.
  • Martha Green and the Redlands Police Department joined efforts in a fundraising event, "Clucken with the Cops," to raise money for the Redlands Baseball for Youth.
  • Redlands Symphony Orchestra presented Ravel's "Bolero."
  • Oso Rey performed at the Performance Loft.
  • Joe Greensleeves opened "Enoteca," an upstairs wine bar and lounge.
  • Kimberly Shirk Docent Auxiliary presented $5,000 to the Kimberly-Shirk Association.
  • Bonnes Meres presented $140,000 to Children's Fund, an amount $50,000 greater than its 2005 donation.
  • Redlands Rotary Club and Sunrise Rotary Club of Redlands helped fund a TTY system for the San Bernardino County Museum.
  • University of Redlands hosted its first "Battle of the Singer/Songwriters."

    2006 Was a Busy Year in Our Town

    FEBRUARY 67th annual Lincoln Pilgrimage marched through Redlands. Don Ancell of Oxnard portrayed Lincoln. The Lincoln Shrine held its 35th annual Open House, followed by the 74th annual Lincoln Dinner attended by 360 people. The senior class of Assisteens were honored at their Medallion Ball. The Marten Andersen House was moved in a midnight ceremony to its new location on Orange Street next to the Historical Glass Museum. "Poetry and more" was featured at the Performance Loft. The Boiler Room held a Funny Valentine competition. The Boys & Girls Club of Redlands held its 12th annual Chocolate Fantasy fundraiser. Nelda Stuck was named the Redlan...
