President-elect Barack Obama had a private visit with President George W. Bush at the White House Monday. The meeting between the incumbent and president-elect is a tradition that marks the beginning of the transition of a new administration into the White House.

According to the Associated Press, Obama and President Bush and Laura Bush exchanged warm greetings. The history of these meetings have not always proven to be as pleasant, according to Professor Ed Wingenbach of the University of Redlands.
